Our family used to have a family cottage on Emerald Lake, up nerar Newaygo, and we frequented Tifts Restaurant very frequently.? You're right in the fact that Charlie and Iris were GREAT with the clientele.? We also followed them to their Capers in White Cloud.? What a great time we had in both places.? My brother Chad (in high school called Chuck) also was a member of Charlie's Key Club on the lower level of Tifts.? I'm going to actually forward this e-mail to him-----I know it would jar very pleasant memories.

Charlie Davidson and his wife Iris opened a nice restaurant called Tifts on
M-82 east of Newaygo. The restaurant included a key club on the lower level
with priceless menus, stock-to-order food and booze, individual lighting and
sound in the booths, and a separate wait staff ~ over the top for the area,
and worth a considerable drive. He and Iris charmed the sox off their
clients. Charlie also provided a river guide service, "pulling plugs"
mostly on the Muskegon River, going by the name of The Silver Fox. I bought
my daughter an excursion with The Silver Fox for her anniversary, and she
and her husband were delighted with the experience.
After Tifts burned down, he re-opened (with his son Craig and spouse) in
White Cloud a restaurant called Capers, which closed a while after Charlie
died of cancer. Craig and his wife now operate a restaurant near Hardy Dam
called the Red Anchor. His other son had (may still have) a restaurant in
Montague.
