Is my  memory correct?? Did the police collect hub caps off of kids cars
parked  around the school and? put them in the principals office?? If you
could prove  they were yours, you could get them back.? Several sets weren't
collected. An  interesting way to control crime.

That was true. We weren't supposed to drive cars to school, go to the drug
store for lunch, or do many other serious crimes. I remember my trunk was
so  full of hub caps, it used to crash when I went around curves. I remember
sitting  on the curb with Hinsh, solving the problems with the world.
Riding with  our motor-bikes with Dick Webber, and walking from the bus with Jim
Bash, or  Paul Jewel.  I still remember working at the drug store with Ca
role Clark,  (and being afraid to talk to her).

I remember having to spend a whole day to do the mechanical drawings I
didn't get done in class, and the back rooms of the class it self. I remember
band practice, and orchastra, playing second seat to Ron Waterfield.  I was
always afraid I would forget my homeroom, and never worrying about the
locker  combination, since we could hit the lock, and it would open. Lunch when
the best  food was a hotdog, and now finding the best hotdog in the country
is in East  Grand Rapids at Yesterdog. Watching Jerry Lewis draw pictures of
the teachers  and cave men, and Jerry and Dennis Harrington on the drums at
band.   Listening to the radio, and then watching television come alive.

Was that our lives?  Were we actually that young?  Or was that a
television show I saw?
