My favorite Yo Yo carving was the "slow boat to China". I had a Royal Yo Yo.
Our Phillipino guy carved I front of Tillie's Dime Store on Kalamazoo &
Boston.

I think the reason the Eastown Theater was better is because of the Yo Yo
contests they had.? Nothing better than having that Phillipino guy carve
something special in your new Duncan YoYo.? Sometimes we'd go down in front
of Caseys Dry Goods store on Wealthy and fish change out of the grates in
the sidewalk in front of the store with a long stick and bubble gum.? If we
could bring up around 15 to 20 cents, we could buy enough penny candy at the
Eastown to last through the Lone Ranger and Hopalong Cassidy.

Hey, did anybody else ever rent one of those dilapidated old row boats out
at Romona Park and go fishin on Reeds Lake?? Or were you out water skiing
behind Tom Davis "Yellow Jacket", while I was bouncing around in your wake??
Do I remember that he ran that boat into someone's swimming?raft one time
and dam near sank the thing (the boat I mean)?

And did Jim Coffee really take his Levis off and cut them up so he could tie
the Deer he got with his new Bow onto his car and bring it back to Grand
Rapids from somewhere up north.? The legend seems to be he forgot to bring
rope, so he cut up his jeans and drove home in his skivvies with the dam
deer wearing his Levis drapped across his car.? God I hope that's
true....the picture of him doing that is way to funny not to be real.

Yep, the closer we get to July 18th, the bigger the fish we will all have
caught, and the farther we all will have walked to school.? But dam, it's
fun just being part of an environment that dredges up all these old memories
(digitally enhanced or not).

46 bottles of beer on the wall.....46 bottles of beer.......we're getting
there folks.

Yeah, but at the Burton they cut holes in the bottom of the popcorn bag so
you
couldn't pop it when you were finished.? Initially admission was only 9
cents
for a double feature and then it jumped to 12 cents as I recall.

Why was the Eastown better than the Burton? At the Burton you got four
cartoons. Also, nothing was better than the frost on the glass at tthe A&W,

and I even liked the hot dogs at Sullivans. Of course that was much later.

I always got a gekko at Romona Park, and never failed to drive through
Footlongs for a chilli dog.

When I first worked at McDonalds I would serve Dave Collins, Jerry
DiTrapani and Dave Releg who would come by with a car load. I would
package up

10
hamburgers, 10 frys, 5 malts, (those used to sit under the lights and
attact the moths who would get caught in them. My job was to every ten
minutes

or so run the mixers to move the bugs to the bottom), take a $10.00 and
give him $8.90 in change.

I do notice one food group dominated.
