did Jim Coffee really take his Levis off and cut them up so he could tie
the Deer he got with his new Bow onto his car and bring it back to Grand
Rapids from somewhere up north.? The legend seems to be he forgot to bring
rope, so he cut up his jeans and drove home in his skivvies with the dam deer
wearing his Levis drapped across his car.? God I hope that's true....the
picture of him doing that is way to funny not to be real.

I am sure it is true. Jim always was into hunting and fishing first. I
remember hitch-hiking up North with Dennis Harrington to go to the Music Box
at Houton Lake. We ran into Coffee fishing by a stream, and we tried to get
him to go with us, but he wanted to fish. He was frying some fish in a
pan, and so we ate with him, then headed out.

We went on to the Lake and a party in the woods afterwards. It was a
drunken brawl. We were all having a great time drinking and laughing and a
police car came crashing into the opening, everyone scattered. We realized it
was but one cop car, so everyone game back out of the woods and started to
pelt it with bottles and rocking it. Denny and I left.

We hitchhiked home. We were picked up by an old dirty car surrounded with
flys. When we got in, it was filthy and smelled terrible. I asked the
driver what he did for a living and he pointed to a bull in the field, and
said, "See that bull? I'm in competition with him." He went from farm to farm

and inseminated cows. What a ride that was.

We didn't find Coffee on the way home, but I guess he stayed to fish. We
should have stayed with him. That was the last time I was at the Music Box.
You can ask Dennis about the trip, he remembers it too.
