When we were freshmen I think Speech was taught by a Miss DeJong. I had to take speech then (usually reserved for Jr/Sr) because of a scheduling problem. At first this scrawny little 9th grader was completely awed by a class full of the coolest upper classmen. Then I learned that they got just as nervous as I did at the prospect of standing alone in front of class to make a speech; the experience turned out to be a very good one for me. I think Marlene Van Hall was a first year teacher when we were seniors. She was the advisor when I was in the senior play. Larry Race.
