Kinda makes me want to cry, and give Linda another hug!

Well, if you'll allow me, I'd like to pitch in a few words as a
disninterested spousal appendage who has been dragged along to every one of
the mighty Ottawa Indian reunions. (As a Lee Rebel, how it galls me to say
kind words about a city school and students who drove about in flashy cars
and wore preppy clothes while we picked coal in order to heat our homes from
along the tracks that we lived on the other side of while boiling our
drinking water from Plaster Creek downstream from Kelvinator as we licked
the greasy remains of delicious hamburgers from Kewpies from the wadded up
wax paper thrown to the ground from 55 Ford Crown Victorias.....but I
digress)
Linda Parmelee, my beautiful spouse of nearly 43 years generally does not
get too excited about anything except her children and grandchildren.
(excitement is not the proper word when she deals with me...usually that
emotion is anger or disgust or frustration or long suffering Godly
patience...err, back on topic.) For a couple of months she would daily read
your e-mails and talk about how she was perhaps going to see old friends
again and maybe some that have never attended a reunion. She was not
disappointed. It gave me great pleasure to see the smile on her face as she
moved around the room talking and sharing with all of you. She thoroughly
enjoyed herself and Saturday was the culmination of all of the marvelous
anticipation of the last few months. Evan and Jim's words represent much of
what Lynn's feelings were about Saturday night.
You are all a wonderful group of folks and the experiences that Lynn has
shared with you and you with her in growing up has helped shape her into the
caring, loving and honorable person that I have come to love and cherish for
all these years. I am grateful for your friendships with her. You are all
a great bunch of folks who have done well and illuminate once again how
great and noble are the products of our great nation and gem of a city.
Godspeed, Indians!

Evan,
I'm not sure about 50 yrs, but another 5 or 10 years sound great.
I can't describe my emotions regarding last night. Nothing expresses it
all..
It was great to see, and talk, to everyone. We all look so young!
I so glad that Captain Furtney put it together! He did a fantastic job! No
Dave, no reunion!
Evan, your card tricks are fantastic! We should have had you do magic, and
let people fight for the valuable prizes!
I'm so glad you decided to attend.
If I don't see you again, have a great rest of your life!

IT was a hoot. So many of our mates have done so well, and it wasn't a
group of old people, but young folks in extended bodies.
People like Dave Gaskin with a constant smile, Jim Coffee looking every bit
the professor, Jim Thomas or Dr. Jim as we should call him as a resident
hippy, Harry Rosensweig with his Legend to be signed, Jackie Long as hot as
ever, Hinch and his other half, who made the trip worth while for me;
Earnie Horn, who is alive, and funny as ever, Tooker, Fertney, Grubs, and
Jim
Guikama, all looking like a day hasn't gone by.
Then Rocky Landman, who grinned all night, Steve Konkle, looking like he
just got done with 6th period, Jerry DiTrapani, with Sue Ward, who fit right
in. I got to talk to Barb Eardly, and that was a high point of the
evening. Delmar Fast and his trophy wife, and Barb Frost with the same smile
I
would recognize anywhere.
There were so many others that I can't mention, but I found it fascinating
how easy it was to talk to everyone. It is like 50 years had never gone
by, and it was just another night out at Sullivans.
Many who were not there were missed. I heard questions about Monette
Holms, and I did miss Karen Carpenter. We talked about Karen Anderson, and
of
course those who are no longer with us, but still remembered.
It wasn't a night of talking about the old days, as I expected. It was more
a large group of friends coming together again, to discuss our lives, our
success and our futures. I was amazed how we seemed to mesh, and how
pleased everyone was to be back together.
In another 50 years, it will be interesting to see if we feel the same.
