What a wonderful get-together! There is something very special about getting together with people from the same hometown, with basically the same roots, and lots of the same memories, from a very formative time in our lives. I think the unsung heroes and heroines were the spouses who were good enough to hang around with few complaints while we totally ignored them. I was grateful that mine at least knew Susie Clemens husband Bob fairly well from over the years and also Karen Carpernter's husband Dan. Thanks guys, for letting us ignore you. I was exhaused but exhillarated by 11 PM when we had to go. (We are among those wierdos who wake up no later than 6 AM no matter what we have been doing and who turn into pumpkins way before midnight..) I was happy to remember just why I liked my girlfiends back then, because they are still neat smart fun beautiful women to this day. And the guys are as fun and handsome as ever, in fact more so. Although at first I
had trouble recognizing some of you, once we got talking, it was like yesterday that we were talking in the Ottawa halls.
I hope you heroic organizers (yes you, Dave Furtney) will be willing to do this again, and please let's not wait 10 years. That may be (sadly) too long for some of us. And as we age, we have no idea where our memories are going. (downhill, for sure.) As one who still has a living mother (at 95), I plan to attend a few more of these gatherings if I have inherited her longevity genes. Yes, I hope there are pictures - flattering ones, please. I'll keep checking the website.
To answer an oft asked question Sat night...Where is my black pony tail? Gone, but apparently not forgotten, replaced by white hair. And what was the significant thing Dave Gaskin did for me? Introduced me to pizza, which I had never heard of. He brought some cold pizza in his lunch in 7th grade and shared it. Even cold, I loved it, and still do!! Thank you all for a wonderful memory-filled evening.
