I like what Steve said, and noticed the same thing.
I went to the 10, 20 and 30 year reunion. I found the same people who
snubbed me in high school, (and perhaps for good reason), were still snubbing
me after 30 years. So, I skipped the 40 year reunion.
This year I felt so comfortable, enjoyed talking to those who didn't know I
existed in high school, and didn't see one bit of hostility shown to me or
anyone else.
What I did see was a group of honest, happy and intelligent people, who
seemed to accept me as I was, and not judge me for what I used to be, or even
what I was now. I had a few close friends that I had lost contact with,
and when we spoke it felt like no time had gone by, and we had talked but a
day or two ago.
I almost didn't go, and only went because Jim Coffee, (one who I did stay
in touch with), convinced me it would be worthwhile to be there. He was
right, and always was smarter than me. He still is.
I thank you all for reminding me that time is a great healer, and for the
welcome you gave to me. I came home with a new faith in my friends, my
class mates, and those I should have gotten to know before now. It made me
glad to have lived long enough to experience it.
To each of you, I owe a debt. One I will never be able to repay, or
properly express. Steve Konkle and Jim Coffee said it better.
