THE DEMOLITION BEGINS

It's sad to see the demolition in progress, but renewal is
part of life. The pictures here were taken by Connie (Schoolmaster)
Owston. She reports:

They started taking the ole school down from the back, beginning
with the elementary school end. I was in GR for two weeks in mid
May and "just had" to go to see what was happening. There were
many others walking and/or driving by who were just as curious as
    I. The building looks like it was really well-built and by the
time the whole place is finally down, there's going to be a BIG
pile of rubble! Too bad the school couldn't be saved.

The trucks are carrying away the debris from the
back of the building. The Front facade starts to crumble, and
the top north side goes next. Then comes the Southeast corner.
A bit off the back... and the Ottawa we once knew is nearly gone.

Thanks to Connie for these sad, but memorable, pictures.
